Grab

(jaw bucket) is a type of load gripper that is used for loading and unloading operations with lump and bulk materials (sand, slag, crushed stone, gravel, coal, etc.). It is used on gantry, bridge and tower cranes, as well as on excavators instead of a conventional bucket. A variety of bucket designs also allow you to move timber and scrap metal.

By design, grabs are divided into rope grabs: single-rope, multi-rope (two-, three- and four-rope), motor and hydraulic. Unlike a single-rope grab, a multi-rope grab can be unloaded by weight in any position. This significantly reduces the cycle time, which is especially important when working with large volumes of cargo. When winding the supporting rope, the grab can be unloaded while the trailing rope winch is braked.

Motorized grabs can be hung on an existing hook suspension, providing a current supply to the locking mechanism.

The use of grabs when loading and unloading materials allows you to completely eliminate manual labor, thanks to the ease of operation and the location of the grab controls directly in the crane cabin. Using grabs when loading material into a lifting machine allows you to perform one of the most labor-intensive operations without much effort.
